Progressive TV channel PurpleTV adds 20 additional markets for the Democratic National Convention

PurpleTV, which Radio and Television Business Report calls “…a novel new over-the-air television brand that seeks to bridge the divide between Republicans and Democrats…” is rapidly expanding.

PurpleTV’s broadcast footprint will now cover cities in Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, Georgia, Nevada, and Arizona—the six swing states in the upcoming presidential election—plus Florida and North Carolina. Now, 34 million people in those states can watch PurpleTV, and the channel now reaches more than 40 million people nationwide.

“Millions of people watch free over the air (OTA) television but only 50,000 go to the convention, so we are going to serve blue, red, and purple viewers by broadcasting the DNC over the air,” said Matthew Davidge, CEO of PurpleTV.

PurpleTV’s market footprint will now expand from three television markets to 23 television markets and focus on states where Democrats polled between 47% and 50% in the 2020 election.

PurpleTV also recently added daily content from popular YouTuber, podcast host, political commentator, and author Brian Tyler Cohen, who has more than six million subscribers on social media and who has interviewed everyone from Mary L. Trump and Gavin Newsom to Beto O’Rourke and Vice President Kamala Harris.

PurpleTV currently broadcasts in Milwaukee, Wisconsin (WWMW), Columbus, Ohio (WXOH), and West Palm Beach, Florida (WBWP). It’s expanded channel list will be:

PurpleTV Expanding to Phoenix, Atlanta, and Las Vegas

PurpleTV keeps expanding. We are launching in several new TV markets—Phoenix, Atlanta, and Las Vegas. Our goal is to get to every swing state by September.

We are also currently broadcasting in Milwaukee, Wisconsin; West Palm Beach, Florida; Columbus, Ohio; and Topeka, Kansas.

In addition, PurpleTV is expanding its broadcast hours to cover Primetime in all four time zones—we will be on air (Central Time) from 5pm to 1am. And we’re expanding to seven days a week—we’ll be broadcasting Saturday and Sunday, too.

We will also broadcast the Democratic National Convention (DNC) feed from August 19 – 22.

We’re also making new partnerships—with well-known YouTuber, podcast host, political commentator, and author Brian Tyler Cohen, for example.

We are busy! Stay tuned.

PurpleTV Launches Political TV Channel Over Mar-a-Lago and West Palm Beach

PurpleTV, a center-progressive political channel whose tagline is “Where Blue meets Red. And Red meets Blue,” has launched on Channel 19.1 on TV Station WBWP, with coverage over Mar a Lago and Palm Beach County in Florida. It will expand to other states and markets over the coming weeks.

“A Manhattan court has decided that Donald Trump is a perp. We’re hoping to make him a little purpler,” said PurpleTV CEO Matthew Davidge.

With news and opinion from David Pakman, and commentary from Civic Media in Wisconsin, PurpleTV aims to be fair and balanced.

“President Trump may not tune-in but we’ll be bathing him every day in a politically-balanced broadcast signal,” said Davidge. “Wouldn’t it be great if we were all a little more purple?”

Not a conventional TV watching experience, PurpleTV more closely resembles an internet feed or social media stream and is a place for viewers to perch briefly during commercial breaks on other channels. Viewing is designed to be measured in seconds, not minutes.

PurpleTV launched in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on June 27, before the Republican National Convention, and in Columbus, Ohio on July 23. PurpleTV’s West Palm Beach signal will reach 184,000 out of 525,000 TV households in the West Palm Beach market.

PurpleTV launches in Columbus, Ohio

PurpleTV, a center-progressive political channel whose tagline is “Where Red meets Blue. And Blue meets Red,” has launched on Channel 25.1 in Columbus, Ohio on TV Station WXOH. PurpleTV programming airs on 25.1 during prime time from 7pm – 11pm, Monday – Friday. It will expand to other states and markets over the coming weeks.

Ohio is a swing state, and in the past, voters there have swung for Donald Trump, Barack Obama, George Bush, and Bill Clinton. Most of the City of Columbus is in Ohio’s 3rd Congressional District, as is Ohio State University, which is 2024 Republican vice-presidential nominee J.D. Vance’s alma mater. The 3rd District is solidly Democratic and if Vance was still there, PurpleTV’s signal would surely go over his head.

“Purple people want to get on with their lives. They want politicians to work together and compromise to move the nation forward,” said PurpleTV’s President, Matthew Davidge. “They don’t want angry performance artists.”

PurpleTV successfully launched in Milwaukee on June 27th, before the Republican National Convention. So far, the network has forged a content partnership with Madison-based Civic Media, and also airs videos from political commentator David Pakman. PurpleTV is now poised for further expansion beyond Milwaukee and Columbus to other TV markets including West Palm Beach, Florida.

Not a conventional TV watching experience, PurpleTV more closely resembles an internet feed or social media stream and is a place for viewers to perch briefly during commercial breaks on other channels. Viewing is designed to be measured in seconds, not minutes.

Over the air viewers in Columbus, Ohio should rescan their TV sets to be sure to receive the channel. Watch PurpleTV nightly from 7pm to 11pm on WXOH (formerly WCPX) Columbus 25.1 or stream live at PurpleTV.com/live. Pass the Torch, Joe.

Pass the Torch Joe

Starting today, PurpleTV Channel 16.1 in Milwaukee will air an editorial recommending that President Biden step aside and pass the torch. “We love Joe, but it is time to go,” said Matthew Davidge, CEO of PurpleTV. “I donated back in 2020 and 2024. I celebrated when he won. I believe he is a man of faith. When I visited St. Joseph on the Brandywine—the church where the Bidens worship—I thought of all the loss he had endured and the achievements he had made. I saw him speak at Radio City a couple of months ago. He is a good man and a good President, but it is time to pass the torch before the darkness of Trump blows the light out.”

PurpleTV (www.purpletv.com), a center-progressive informational TV channel, is poised for expansion beyond Milwaukee to key markets including West Palm Beach, Florida and Columbus, Ohio. The network has forged a content partnership with Madison-based Civic Media and also airs videos from political commentator David Pakman.

Wisconsin: A Battleground State

A purple state in the heart of a divided America, Wisconsin plays a critical role in shaping national politics:

• In 2020, Biden clinched the race by a mere 20,000 votes.

• In 2016, Trump secured the state with just 23,000 votes.

Both races were determined by less than 1% of the vote. The 2024 election could the see the state remain blue—or turn red.
